The name is a little bit of homage to the Spirit Binders series by Alaya Dawn Johnson, which is an amazing fantasy series that now that I think about it also involves a fair amount of shooting with bows and arrows. (And lots and lots of wonderful female characters!) They are my favorite books and the main character ends up as The Black Angel (literally; big black wings) and so when I was trying to think of names it seemed to fit.
