Hoodie Prompts Explanatory Post

**Please note: This post was rewritten on 23 May 2014 in order to reflect changes to the structure of Hoodie Prompts. Any comments made to this post before that date may pertain to the original structure, details of which can be found here.**

Hoodie Prompts is a fanfiction activity, inspired by the LiveJournal communities [livejournal.com profile] rh_drabblefest and [livejournal.com profile] camelot_drabble (which took its inspiration from [livejournal.com profile] sortinghatdrabs). While it started out with more structure, it's now quite relaxed, in order to provide the most opportunities for new Robin Hood fanfiction!

How it works is that each Friday, I'll post a prompt. Anyone who wants to write a fic or create art inspired by that prompt is free to do so at any time after the prompt goes up. I'll be maintaining this index of all fics and art created for Hoodie Prompts, along with which prompt to which they all pertain, so please make sure to tag all submissions appropriately. :)

There are no longer any sign-ups or deadlines, and there's never been competition. Just hopefully, some inspiration for anyone who wants it!

  • Art can be original pieces, vids, icons, et cetera.

  • Fics must be a minimum of 100 words. There is no maximum word count, however-- (see next bullet point)

  • --fanworks must be complete upon posting.

  • Participants can enter as many fanworks for each prompt as they want.

  • There is no limit to how many people can create a fanwork for a prompt.

  • All works should be new (or, at least, previously unposted) for the prompt.

  • Crossovers are fine. No rpf.

  • Participants must include appropriate ratings (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17) and warnings (for mature content, potential triggers, or flashing/animated images). If you're not sure about something, ask! I'm just a PM away. :)

  • Warnings don't need to be included for spoilers, at this point in time. If you want to indicate what season or episode your fic/art pertains to, however, that would be fab.

  • There are loads of tags here-- please use all that apply! I'll add participant tags as needed based on sign-ups, but if there's another tag you need, PM me.

  • A handy-dandy copy/paste header can be found below-- please use it.

  • All fanworks need to be posted here. You can cross-post elsewhere, but I won't include on the masterlist any fanworks that aren't actually posted at this community (so, please don't post a header here, with a link to another journal for the actual fic/art). As an aside for AO3 users, there's an AO3 collection, with subcollections for each prompt.

Of course, all community rules apply, both for participants and anyone commenting on fics/art. I'm not making it mandatory for participants to be [community profile] bbc_robinhood community members, but it would be good form. ;)

If you've got any questions, you can ask here or PM me.

LMAO! Maybe Guy runs out of money for alcohol and starts writing in order to make money? And he writes under an alias and comes up with embarrassing romantic stories between the Sheriff and Sir Jasper?

You know, when my plot bunnies start mating... I get a little terrified myself. O_o

Wait... just had an idea. Make Allan his editor and literary agent. Maybe Guy thinks he's just writing love stories about himself and Marian, and Allan turns around and changes the characters to the Sheriff and Jasper to make extra money. Yay? ;)

it really really must. DO IT, I SAYS, DO IT! (although Djaq!muse says "GUY! NO SELF-MEDICATING WITH ALCOHOL! THAT IS NOT A GOOD THING TO DO AT ALL!" She is horrified that he is self-medicating with an (as she sees it) altogether inappropriate substance.) (the woman is clearly forgetting that Guy should be totally feeling guilty and depressed at that point in time/the season and therefore self-medicating is ~kinda okay, bc clearly the writing team was doing it at this junture so Guy doing the same makes sense, sorta.. if you tilt your head waaaay sideways and sideeye the entire third series/season... which i do regardless partly bc no pretty W/D and partly bc no Maz and partly bc Kate is less than useless.. and not suited to outlawry at all.. if only they'd used her as a human shield, maybe than she'd had have a purpose... Maybe... *wanders off ranting about 'Kate's less than useless-ness' and 'how she shoulda died in the finale instead of Allan who coulda gone off to the Holy land to tell Will and Djaq what happened since they'd stayed behind.' and various things of such variety*)

So I missed the first prompt, dang it! And I had something in mind, too. Anyway, it's alesh with a weird new name. I'm in as I can and as the muse graces me.

I am also in the deadline=motivation camp. I'd love to be added to the list, thanks!

...what wintercealde said. I didn't really get how this was supposed to work, but now that there's been a round I think I understand and I'm excited.

Ah. Well I'm definitely a person who needs deadlines to accomplish things, so I'm very much on board with that. I'm just new to this kind of thing. The only place I've written for prompts is kinkmemes.

Time zone converter for refererence for future rounds?

[personal profile] melsheartsthings 2013-06-20 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps we could use a time zone converter like this one to announce' how much time is left in the round? Just because I'm sure we are scattered around different timezones and countrys and so a tool like this would be very helpful.

I'd like a clarification on the "new for this prompt" condition.

1. Can it be a new piece of an ongoing work?
2. Can it be based on unpublished stuff that was previously written? (I.e. previously sitting around in snippets in private LJ posts, possibly discussed in general terms with a beta?)
3. What if you write something for one of the prompts, but then either fail to get it up by the deadline or mess up the post and fail to actually post it in a readable fashion? Could you then repost the bulk of the work for another prompt if it fit?

[personal profile] lonespark 2013-06-21 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm hardly going to know if somebody's had a fic sitting around, written but unpublished, and just decides to stick it up for a prompt that fits. However, that'd defeat the whole purpose of signing up. ;)

Well, right. But I'm trying to strike a balance between "using deadlines to whip my disjointed musings into shape" and participating as intended.

In more specific terms, regarding your fic, it'd be okay with me if you wanted to post that now, unchanged. Just use the tag to the prompt for which it was written, and I'll add it to that prompt's master list.

Oh, awesome. I'll try to un-frak it sometime soon. Then at least I'll be...one-for-three, I think? in completing when I signed up.
